About
Hi, my name is Steven R Dison.I am online now because I was sick and tired of my old Job , I just hated working for someone else. My boss was so into himself that no one else mattered to him. If he had a question for you he would ask it and then just hang up, he was through with you. That always got on my nerves.
I have been looking for something else for the past 15 years. I had tried numerous MLM opportunities and also numerous Real Estate opportunities. A lot of what I had been exposed to was probably good stuff…I just had this JOB (just over broke) that would take me out of town for 30 to 90 days and all the work that I had started on my new opportunity would just have been for naught , as I was always committed to doing my best on the job, and its obscure locations (sometimes offshore for up to 30 days straight with no internet or phone service). That made it hard to complete the necessary tasks to succeed.
I also really hated being away from my family for so long…I would come home the “stranger” to my wife and family. For years now I have been saying to myself and to the people I worked with “ I wish they would just fire me so that I can use all that I have learned and make some real Money”. Well, Not too long ago that is exactly what happened….for the first time in my life I was FIRED.
And that’s why I started my own internet business online, and why I created this Blog, because I want to meet, network, and give back to other newbie entrepreneurs who are in the same situation just like I was… and hopefully my story can help inspire you to discover a better alternative, just like I did, when I started working from home, being my own boss, and making money online.
But before I get into all of that… let me just tell you a little bit more about myself…” I was born in Los Angeles, California. I moved to Lindsay, California ( where the greatest olives in the world come from) when I was in the 4th grade and was there thru the 11 grade , thus most of my early growing up memories come from this Central California community. I spent the first half of my Senior year in Pacheco ( near Concord/Pleasant Hills Ca.) and then finished up High School in Yerington, Nevada.
I was always a trusting person, and when the army recruiter said my test scores were so good that I would probably stay stateside and become a teacher, I signed up for the US Army. Needless to say after my AIT (advanced individual training) my first duty station was in DaNang, Vietnam. That was quite a year, maybe sometime I will tell you some stories. When I left Vietnam I was a little disappointed at first because I was going from one overseas duty station to another. But I am really glad that I went to Germany to finish out my term of enlistment.
While I was in the service my mother and step father moved to a beautiful city half way between San Francisco and Los Angeles called San Luis Obispo. I really liked this place and took up residence with my parents. That didn’t last too long as I was quite the partier and they didn’t take too kindly to my excessive drinking and other activities.
I was attending the local Jr. college….Cuesta College….and met what ultimately has become my sweetheart and wife…although that took about 12 years to become a reality. She had sat down next to me in an Algebra class…I thought Wow, Wow, Lucky me. After a couple weeks we became friends and she invited me to her apartment one day after school….however she didn’t mention her roommate , a guy named Fred. Anyway, we all became friends and enjoyed many pastimes together.
I met another woman and we married and ultimately had a boy, Paula ultimately married and had 2 girls. We maintained contact ….my mariage dissolved ….we maintained contact….ultimately her marriage dissolved….we maintained contact…I would pick up her kids and drop them off at their dad’s every now and then as I would travel from Louisiana to California.
I got a little ahead of myself there…during my first marriage I went through a Phychiatric Technician training and acquired my state license and worked at Atascadero State Hospital. I worked mainly with MDSO’s (mentally disordered sex offenders). I’m not sure why I had that program given to me as work assignment, but that is what I got. My favorite statement for working there was “if they can’t commit you, they hire you”. I found a lot of truth to that statement. After about 3 years of the system I had enough of it and in my mind “ I had gotten my “A” and was ready to move on to bigger and better things.
I had learned to Scuba dive and was intrigued by the ads in Skin Diver Magazine….Can you fill these shoes?…..High Pay, Travel, and Adventure!!!….they all seemed exciting , so I went for it. I quit my state job and headed off to Dive school in Wilmington, Ca. After school I ended up in Morgan City, La. I started out as a tender working for $2 an hour in the shop and twice that offshore ($4). This was in 1978. I spent the next 6 years in Louisiana. I had two trips to Brazil (what a great place to visit) A 6 month job out of Mexico (1979 Bay of Campechi oil spill) and was in Antiqua for about 6 months on a job when they received their independence from Great Britain in 1981.
In 1984 I returned to California, I wanted to be closer to home. I really enjoyed my time in Louisiana but I am a native born Californian. I worked for a Marine Construction company from September 1985 til June of 2009, almost 24 years. I started out as a diver with them and through the years trained myself and received my 100 ton Masters License, with a towing endorsement. I am a certified crane operator for hydraulic and lattice boom cranes, and have knowledge in pile driving, dock and pier construction/repair, ect.
So here I am today. I have studied and enjoyed pottery since I got out of the service back in 1970. I had been away from it for quite some time but my wife dragged me back to Cuesta and then said I should sign up for the class that she is taking. That was 3 semesters ago and I will take a class every semester that they allow me to. I will share some of my work in the future. I have made a studio in my backyard so that I can always get my hands muddy, sling some mud as I throw some pots, ect.
As I stated earlier, I have been looking for an opportunity to break away from the grind of having to work for someone else for a long time. I have always heard that if you want to get ahead, you have to work for yourself and not make someone else rich. Now, I was making good money in my prior job, I made all of my ends meet…..but that was about all. I don’t have all of the” things” that I want, and the most important thing that I didn’t have was my time. I was married more to my job than I was to my wife and family. I can’t tell you how many times I was unable to attend family functions or just spend time with my family because I was working for my Boss. I felt more like a slave than a person. I had to listen to co-workers bad mouth the boss, secretary, ect…..then have them go up and bad mouth me to them…such a vicious game those people played. Watch your back they would tell me, and then stab me without any remorse. I hate people that have to make you look bad so that they can look good. There was one guy that was all about I , I , I , I did all these things, and they messed up.
Anyway, I am now in a much better place. I can help my daughter look for a scooter, go camping with my family, take the boys to the ballgame, plan and go hunting, fishing, whatever. Before I never knew what Job I was going to be on or where I would be working. I could never say that I could go to Disneyland on the 7th of October, if that was an important date. I could never plan out anything. I was my bosses slave and always had to do his bidding and on his schedule.
Now I have only me to answer to. I have work that needs to be done, I have to work for what I want, there are no free rides or easy money, I still have to put in time each and every day….but I can also not go to work and spend time with my family. I have done more with them recently than I have done in the past 5 years. It is truly liberating….I now have given myself back my freedom and I am loving every day and every moment in my days.
Sure, not everything is rosy, life is not like that. But I have the means and the choice to live my life as I want to, and not jump to the tune of some Jerk of a boss. So, how am I able to do what I am doing…How did I change my life? I have gone into internet Marketing and I can show you how you can also do that. I can teach you how to fire your boss before he fires you.
