Time Freedom…it’s nice to have. Wow, it is amazing how fast time flies by when you are having fun. June is just a blur to me as I spent most of it helping out my In-laws. My Father in law was sick and had to go to the hospital…which left my Mother in Law home alone. Alone is not always a bad thing…sometimes I relish the idea of not being interrupted in my daily activities. But my Mother in Law is 90 years old and legally blind. A little help was needed.
Which brings me to the topic of today’s post. “Time Freedom”. If I was still anchored down by my job, there is no way that I could have accomplished such a task. I was unable to schedule any time off on my last JOB. I was only able to take a vacation if we had a break between jobs. And we only knew about it the day that it happened, as most jobs just flowed from one to the other. We were a small company and I wore many different hats. So I had no time freedom. I had this huge anchor keeping me stuck to a job that I was always looking for a way to replace. One Job was tending a barge next to this oil rig for 72 days straight.
No Time Freedom Here....Actually no Freedom Period
I am now a network marketer. I now choose when and where I do what I do. My inlaws were in need and my wife said that I should help them out. I told her that I could spend a couple of days with them….that I could put my business on hold for a short time. So…I left with enough clothes for 3 days and my laptop. Well, three days was not even close to being enough time to help out significantly. My Father in law was in the hospital for another week and then another week in a rehabilitation hospital. So, I couldn’t just leave… so I stayed a total of 24 days, just a bit longer than I had planned on.
So how did I do it? Well, it was simple. Just like network marketing is simple. You just do what you have to do. I did not say that it was easy though. They had a good phone plan so I could spend as much time on the phone as I wanted. The problem is that they did not have any internet service, and netzero or any other dial up connection is way to slow to try and use. So I went exploring and found out that if I would sit under the walnut tree in the back yard I could pick up on an unsecured wireless connection from one of the neighbors….and Bingo….I was in business again. It was not the fastest connection and it would drop every now and then….but I was able to stay connected enough and also able to do the work that needed to be done.
So…Time Freedom is a blessing in so many ways. I now know my in-laws much better and we had a great time together. I have always loved them and now I do so twice as much. Having the ability to drop everything do what is most important is paramount in my mind to living a successful and happy life. I spent most of my life living someone else’s dreams and aspirations. I now live my life as I see fit and am able to help those I chose to help. I work when and where I choose. Like I said…it is simple…not necessarily easy…but if you chose to do it , you will get it done.
